Job Summary

The Manufacturing Associate II/III will be a crucial contributor to the Operations organization by performing a variety of essential functions involved in the synthesis of oligonucleotides. The role will require multiple hands-on tasks including reagent formulation, manual pipetting, setting up laboratory equipment, and assembling components. 

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate a variety of semi-automated and fully automated laboratory equipment to manufacture oligonucleotides and perform post synthesis process.
  • Perform manual pipetting operations on bench transfer into well plates, tubes, or other vessels.
  • Assemble small parts and components by hand.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures, detailed processes, and safety regulations.
  • Support production teams across the site, including working additional hours as necessary to meet customer production demand.
  • Follow 5S practices to maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment.
  • Track inventory of reagents, components, and assemblies.
  • Identify and triage issues on the manufacturing floor and notify management.
  • Contribute to process improvements, problem-solving, and optimization.
  • Assist in drafting and revising work instructions and production batch records.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other departments, teams, and vendors.
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to transfer and optimize manufacturing processes and tools.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Molecular Biology, or related field
  • 3-7 years of hands-on manufacturing experience in a laboratory environment.
  • Familiarity with GMP/GLP lab practices
  • Operation of analytical instruments: HPLC, LC-MS, UV-Vis, NanoDrop, and ability to use other methods for reagent characterization.
  • Flexible team player with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to adapt and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Ability to think logically, prioritize tasks, be self-motivated, and work effectively in a team environment.
  • High attention to detail and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good verbal communication skills including communication to team lead, supervisor, instructional communication to junior staff members, and across departments.
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be available to work on weekends.

Health & Benefits at MAI:

  • Salary Range: $25 – $33 p/hour.  The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for this position. The actual base salary offered for this position will be based on many factors including but not limited to individual performance, location of job, experience and skills required for this role.
