Science: Technological challenges and milestones for writing genomes

Back

The field of synthetic biology has made huge leaps forward in the last decade. Scientists are now looking to overcome the remaining technological challenges in the field and advance genome design, DNA synthesis, genome editing, and chromosome construction. In an editorial article for Science, Bill Efcavitch, Ph.D., cofounder and chief scientific officer at Molecular Assemblies, joins synthetic biology leaders in laying out a practical timeline for meeting specific milestones in these areas.  The editorial in Science’s Policy Forum can be found here (subscription required).
