Engineer I, II

Molecular Assemblies is a San Diego-based company developing a revolutionary, enzymatic DNA synthesis technology capable of powering new products in industrial synthetic biology, personalized therapeutics, precision diagnostics, and eventually information storage, nanotechnology and more.

As an Engineer I/II, you will be a key contributor in the development of fluidic and microfluidic enabled platforms. You will be responsible for supporting the design, test, and manufacturing transfer of fluidic components, consumables, and sub-systems, with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting.


  • Plan, setup and perform fluidic experiments in the lab
  • Program and debug fluidic instrumentation
  • Assemble and perform metrology on prototype consumables
  • Characterize flow profile, pressure, leakage, and material interaction for devices under test
  • Assemble, maintain and debug test setups
  • Analyze and present test results


  • 1 to 2 years hands-on experience in an R&D laboratory or equivalent
  • Knowledge of basic fluid dynamics and principles
  • Experience with assembly and running of fluidic-based systems
  • Experience with experimental design and execution, including DOEs and root cause analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively across disciplines
  • Experience with programming (MATLAB, LabView, C++, etc.) is preferred


  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering or related field
